Talking to people

You can talk to people from all over world via social networks, instant messaging, emails and video calls. Internet dating has also become popular and is seen as a great way to meet new people. But lots of cyber bullying occurs over social networks as bullies can say what they like without having to confront the victim personally. Talking over the internet will eventually lead to people being less sociable, it’s common for people to select a few close friends to talk to over the internet and forget about meeting up with others personally.

Information

Information is very easy to find on the internet often by looking on online encyclopaedias such as Wikipedia or by asking questions on internet help sites. The main issue with this is that the information may be inaccurate; it’s too easy to share information so that it’s common for the person sharing to make a mistake. Unlike actual encyclopaedias, information is not commonly check by another person before it is put online  Information that is secret or personal such as an address can be shared on the internet for anyone to see, there is then little that can be done to take that information off the internet.

E Commerce
E commerce is the buying and selling of goods online. 

With e commerce, goods can be purchased with a few clicks and delivered in days. It saves time and energy. Less pollution is produced from cars as less people will travel to the actual shops without getting anything and instead, single delivery vans will deliver the goods in one journey. A big issue with this is that actual shops don’t get enough money from sales to cover the costs such as rent and electricity. This means that shops on the high street will start closing down.

Bank Transactions

Credit card details are saved online in order for fast shopping and identification verification. But with this information all stored somewhere its possible computer hackers can access it. Thankfully, banks are working out ways to stop this but there is always a chance someone can take money from you over the internet. Another way money can be taken from you is by con artists 'catfishing' and pretending to be someone else. They could pretend to be your bank and ask you for credit card details.

Watching Media

So many movies, TV shows and music can be enjoyed on the internet. There are plenty of sites for listening to music and watching films, such as YouTube, ITunes, Lovefilm, Spotify and Netflix. There are also many piracy sites where media can be downloaded illegally. This causes big problems for film producers or music artists as people stop paying them and get the media for free from these sites. But the problem with using the sites, other than its illegal is that viri can end up on your computer.
